Available Endpoints

GET /api/public/firm-audit

Look up a registered advisory firm and get a practice vulnerability audit.

Parameters:

  • query (required): Firm name (partial match) or CRD number (digits only)

Returns:

  • firmName: string
  • vulnerabilityBand: string — insufficient | limited | moderate | elevated (higher = more vulnerable; precise score withheld)
  • signalCount: integer (succession signals detected)
  • localTargetCount: integer (other firms within 50 miles that have at least $5M AUM; no succession-signal or acquisition-readiness filter is applied)

Example: GET /api/public/firm-audit?query=mercer

GET /api/public/practice-valuation

Calculate an RIA practice value from figures YOU supply, at multiples YOU supply.

Synseus supplies nothing in this calculation: no multiple, no growth rate, no discount rate, no benchmark, and no default for any parameter. If a required parameter is missing, the endpoint returns no valuation. It does not assume one on your behalf.

Every parameter is a number greater than 0. A value that is blank, not a number, zero or negative counts as not supplied.

Required parameters:

  • arr: your annual revenue in dollars, e.g. 500000
  • margin: your profit margin as a percentage, e.g. 40 (used only to work out EBITDA from your revenue)
  • revenueMultipleBase: your revenue multiple, e.g. 2.0
  • ebitdaMultipleBase: your EBITDA multiple, e.g. 5.0

Optional parameters (the DCF set: supply all four, or the DCF method is left out; nothing has a default):

  • terminalMultiple: your DCF terminal multiple, e.g. 3.5
  • discountRate: your DCF discount rate as a decimal, e.g. 0.12
  • growthRate: your DCF annual growth rate as a decimal, e.g. 0.05
  • projectionYears: your DCF horizon in years, e.g. 5 (rounded to a whole number, minimum 1)

If any one of the four DCF parameters is missing, the Discounted Cash Flow method is left out entirely. It is not defaulted, and its absence does not appear in missingRequired. Check dcfIncluded in the response.

Parameters that are not listed (for example retention, tenure or firm type) are ignored.

How the answer is made:

  • Revenue Multiple = arr x revenueMultipleBase
  • EBITDA Multiple = EBITDA x ebitdaMultipleBase, where EBITDA = arr x (margin / 100)
  • Discounted Cash Flow (only when the DCF set is supplied) = the present value of EBITDA grown at growthRate for projectionYears years and discounted at discountRate, plus a terminal value of the final year's EBITDA x terminalMultiple, discounted the same way
  • valuation = the unweighted mean of the methods present. There are no weights and no high/low range.

Returns, when the four required parameters are supplied (HTTP 200):

  • valuation: integer dollars, the unweighted mean of the methods present
  • method: a sentence stating that the headline is the unweighted mean and that a method whose assumptions you did not supply is left out, not defaulted
  • methods: array of { method, value (integer dollars), description } in the order Revenue Multiple, EBITDA Multiple, then Discounted Cash Flow when the DCF set was supplied
  • revenueMultiple, ebitdaMultiple: your multiples, returned exactly as passed (nothing adjusts them)
  • dcfIncluded: boolean, true when the four DCF parameters were all supplied
  • note: a sentence stating that every figure in the response is one you passed or arithmetic on figures you passed

Returns, when a required parameter is missing, blank, not a number, or not greater than 0 (HTTP 200, not an error):

  • valuation: null
  • missingRequired: array of the names of the required parameters that were not usable (any of arr, margin, revenueMultipleBase, ebitdaMultipleBase)
  • note: a sentence saying why no valuation was returned
  • Your inputs are not echoed back, and none of methods, revenueMultiple, ebitdaMultiple or dcfIncluded is present.

Errors:

  • There is no 400 for a missing or invalid valuation parameter; see above.
  • HTTP 429 with a Retry-After header and the body { error: "Rate limit exceeded", message, retryAfter } can be returned after 60 requests in one minute from the same IP address. The count is kept per server instance, so it is not a guaranteed quota.

Example: GET /api/public/practice-valuation?arr=500000&margin=40&revenueMultipleBase=2&ebitdaMultipleBase=5

Returns valuation 1000000, methods Revenue Multiple 1000000 ("2x annual revenue (yours)") and EBITDA Multiple 1000000 ("5x EBITDA (yours), EBITDA = your revenue at your 40% margin"), revenueMultiple 2, ebitdaMultiple 5, dcfIncluded false.

Example with the DCF set: add &terminalMultiple=3.5&discountRate=0.12&growthRate=0.05&projectionYears=5. The response then also includes a Discounted Cash Flow entry in methods, dcfIncluded is true, and valuation is the mean of three values.

GET /api/public/succession-signals

Get aggregated succession signal counts for a geographic area.

Parameters:

  • lat (required): Latitude
  • lng (required): Longitude
  • radius_miles (optional): Search radius in miles, default 50; no maximum is enforced

Returns:

  • firms_analyzed: integer
  • signals: { NO_SUCCESSION, LONG_TENURED, RETIREMENT_PROXIMITY, REGISTRATION_GAP, SOLO_PRACTICE, AUM_TRANSITION_RANGE, MULTI_STATE_LICENSED }
  • total_succession_signals: integer

Note: Returns only aggregate counts — no firm names or identifying information.

GET /api/public/archetype-assessment

Get the 5-question advisor archetype assessment.

Returns: questions array and archetype profiles for all 5 archetypes.

GET /api/public/platform-stats

Returns current platform statistics.
